There’s been a lot of stuff online recently about internet Karens – basically those people who seem REALLY opinionated about something, but usually have no basis at all in what they’re saying.
We all know the ones!
My real bugbear is a ‘Karen’ coming out, when it’s to do with money (or worse, investing).
And the advice being doled out so freely is clearly coming from a person with NO clue about what they’re actually saying.
Like if you’re in business, you’re going to need a decent accountant. And not just one that’ll file your tax return at the end of the year.
The right accountant should give you your numbers in a way that helps you understand what’s really going on in your business. They should be proactive, not just reactive – helping you utilise all the allowances and things available to you, to minimise your tax and boost your growth.
Then, as your business grows, you’ll want a financial advisor. To help you get all your financial stuff in order, to make sure that you’re safe and protected – like pensions, insurances, wills and investments – while growing your money for the future.
Basically, all the financial stuff the Karens knows NOTHING about, but feel it appropriate to push their opinions on others (or regurgitate out-of-date advice they’ve gleaned third hand).
Then – on top of that – it’s likely you’ll want some sort of business coach or mentor (the Karens LOVE dishing out useless business advice!).
The first thing to do is work out what the gap is that you really need to fill, and then find the right person to help you do that. Someone who’s the right fit for you, aligned with your personal values and with the proven experience and expertise you need.
It might be that you’ve got more than one need – like you need to help with your finances; you need to work on your mindset and you need help with your launch strategy – and if that’s the case, it’s about picking which is most pressing (or the most crucial for your success) and doing that one first.
Now I invest thousands of pounds (tens of thousands!) in training and development every year. Not just because I love learning – although I do! – but because I want more.
I have big goals and big dreams. I want more abundance, more success and more impact. I want more for my family. I want to make more of my vision board my reality and make a difference in more women’s lives.
Learning from the experts fast-tracks me to where I want to be.
Because like most things in life, you have a choice.
Time or money.
If you want to do it yourself and find your own way, you can do that with anything in life. You can learn how to service your own car, plan your financial future or grow your business.
But by doing it yourself, the investment is your time (aka your life!).
You’ll make mistakes along the way. You’ll learn from them, need to make changes and over time, slowly get to where you want to be.
When you learn from the experts, the investment may be higher, financially.
But you’re paying for THEIR lifetime of learning and mistakes, so you can avoid them.
You’re buying access to everything they’ve learned, developed and experienced, during their entire career. All those thousands of hours, honing their craft and their skills and their expertise.
So yes, you can get from A to B (or A to Z!) on your own, but it can take ages. Wouldn’t it be better to learn from someone else’s mistakes and fast track your own route to success?
If getting some help to take proper control of your finances is on your ‘need’ list – that’s where I come in!
We’ll create and implement your bespoke financial plan together. You’ll leave with everything you need, to get from where you are now, to where you want to be.
We can work together remotely over 5 weeks, if you like to mull things over and take action as you go. Or we can just sort it all in a single ‘get it done’ day.
There’s just a couple of slots left this month – click here now to find out more!
And the Karens?
We all know those people aren’t going anywhere fast.
Still though, I literally have sit on my hands sometimes, when they pop up with their useless (or misleading and potentially dangerous) advice!
Until next time,
Claire
